A major shift is coming for the UK’s water sector; here’s what you need to know:

The UK’s water industry is about to take on its biggest challenge yet. Over the next five years, water companies are expected to deliver an enormous programme of upgrades and improvements, far larger and more complex than anything attempted before.

This includes fixing ageing infrastructure, improving river and coastline protection, reducing pollution, expanding water supplies, upgrading monitoring systems, and preparing for climate change.

To explore what this means in practice, KPMG brought together leaders from across the sector for a dedicated roundtable discussion. The conversation revealed a clear message: success will depend on doing things differently. Companies will need stronger partnerships, better long‑term planning, more visibility of their supply chains, and a big focus on attracting the right skills and talent. They’ll also need to work more openly and collaboratively, because no single organisation can meet these expectations alone.

If you want to understand what’s changing, why it matters, and how the sector can rise to the challenge, read the full document for deeper insights. It highlights the challenges ahead and the practical steps that can help the industry deliver real progress; from improving everyday operations to managing huge infrastructure projects.
