KPMG in the UK has announced new Executive Committee appointments, effective 1 October, which will support the delivery of the firm’s strategy and growth under Jon Holt’s leadership.  

After 32 years at the firm, Tim Jones will retire in the new year. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), Tim has been instrumental in the firm’s transformation over the last three years and played a critical role in helping the firm navigate the pandemic. Tim will step down as COO at the end of September.

Chris Hearld, the firm’s Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed to a newly created role of Chief Operating and Financial Officer.  

Dan Thomas has been appointed as the firm’s Head of Markets. This brand-new role will see Dan lead the firm’s client engagement activity across all sectors, helping them with their growth and transformation strategies.  Dan is currently the firm’s Head of Corporates and advises the boards of KPMG‘s major clients on their strategic objectives. 

Suzanne Shenton will take on responsibility for the UK firm’s enterprise-wide transformation, in addition to her role as Head of KPMG Business Services. Lisa Heneghan has been promoted to a senior role at KPMG International and completes her term on the UK Executive Committee at the end of September. In her role as Chief Digital Officer, Lisa has led the successful transformation of the UK firm’s digital capability and oversaw the launch of the firm’s 28,000 sq ft Ignition centre, a new technology and innovation hub located in the firm’s headquarters in Canary Wharf.  

Kevin Hogarth, Chief People Officer, will be leaving the firm at the end of September. After a long executive career, Kevin intends to focus on developing a portfolio career over the next few years.  A permanent successor to Kevin will be announced in due course.

We’ve already taken important steps on our transformation journey; including announcing a £300m investment in growth priorities over the next three years and bolstering our core multi-disciplinary services for our clients.

The new Executive Committee will consist of 11 partners from across the firm and comprise 45% women and 20% from a lower socio-economic background.

Chris Hearld’s biography

Chris is the firm’s Chief Operating and Financial Officer and Head of Regions.  He joined KPMG in 1992 and previously spent time working in the Financial Services and Audit practices. He was an Audit Partner for 15 years, responsible for numerous large public company audits, and became Head of Regions in 2019, and led KPMG’s Private Enterprise practice in the UK.

 Prior to his appointment as Head of Regions, Chris was Chair of the firm’s North Region.

Dan Thomas’s biography

Dan is Head of Markets and previously led KPMG UK’s Corporates business, consisting of the 16 non-financial services sectors in the UK, advising Boards on their strategic response to the various disruptive forces on their business. 

Dan qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG before leaving the firm and spending 11 years working with Dell, Proudfoot Consulting and Huntswood in a series of leadership roles. He returned to KPMG in 2010 to lead the Banking business. 

Suzanne Shenton’s biography

Suzanne is the Head of KPMG Business Services and is responsible for leading operations and transformation across the firm’s internal business services teams and its wider enterprise transformation agenda, in support of KPMG’s firmwide strategic priorities.  

Suzanne joined KPMG as Partner in May 2017 and since then, has led the set up and development of KBS as the home for the firm’s Finance, Supply Chain, Business Support, People, Sales and Marketing, Risk, Legal and Corporate Affairs professionals.

Prior to KPMG, Suzanne worked for 26 years at Accenture as both a management consultant and in business operations. She has held a variety of client-facing and internal operational leadership roles across multiple industry sectors and business functions, with a focus on driving business value through delivery excellence and transformation.
