KPMG in the UK

As a Partner with KPMG in the UK’s Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare practice, Amit helps to support National Health Service organisations with integrated care, digital health and population health management initiatives. As Global co-lead, Health equity and access, with KPMG International, Amit collaborates with numerous KPMG colleagues around the world on a suite of approaches to address health equity issues in developed markets.

Amit trained in and worked in the NHS between 1998 and 2022 spending the latter 15 years as a GP Partner, out of hours doctor and locum. Alongside this he helped the national team transfer PCTs to CCGs, and then sat on the board of West Suffolk CCG as locality, planned care and clinical contracting lead. He has run NHS community services as the Medical Director for Suffolk leading a program of investment to modernise and digitise out of hospital working, he has also helped run rural out of hours services, custodial health and served as a NED for a large NHS mental health provider.

Amit served as Chief Medical officer for Bupa Global where he manged medical, clinical governance, policy, claims management and emergency evacuation teams across 180 countries gleaning experience in what works and doesn’t across the world, he joined KPMG from Optum, United Health Group where as a Vice President and Chief Medical Officer he helped design and role out the National Population Health Management development program, using extensive experience from leading accountable care organisations in the US, he took the lead in setting up Optum’s International markets based on PHM and informing the Groups international strategy. 

Alongside his roles Amit has sat on the board of and advised 10 different cutting edge digital health start-ups, sat on the board of both Health XL and the international federation of health plans. Amit leads KPMGs care system redesign and integrated care products and services (including out of hospital and primary care at scale) in the UK, he also acts as global champion for our diversity platform and leads our connected clinical community of practice in the UK which hosts over 30 KPMG employees who are either current or former NHS clinicians.
