Richard C Powell

Richard has been with KPMG for over 37 years. He has extensive experience in risk consulting services; Richard is a member of KPMG’s UK Major Projects Advisory practice leading and delivering a range of complex assignments as well as working closely with our overseas firms on international matters. He has worked extensively for project owners and contractors. Richard’s experience includes advising on good practice processes and procedures for all aspects of the contract life cycle from contracting through to contract management and on all aspects of capital projects from appraisal through to execution and completion. He has assisted Boards of many clients to complete reviews of governance around proposed capital projects, delivering independent assurance over existing projects, reviewing and identifying causality around projects which have overrun schedule/budget, and providing a range of other pro-active advisory services related to capital projects. He has wide experience of a range of major projects consulting assignments across a number of sectors including Energy, Natural Resources, Power and Transport in particular. He is deeply experienced in leading and working with a multi-skilled professional team of quantity surveyors, civil and marine engineers, commercial managers, program and project managers, planners, accountants, and others. He has particular experience in reviews requiring a focus on detail, and extensive experience in responding to whistle-blown concerns around procurement and other aspects of major capital projects. He has also given evidence in a range of regulatory, expert and fraud related matters.
