KPMG in the UK

Ian leads a team of technical accountants providing transaction specific and adhoc accounting advice to KPMG clients. This includes advice on the application of new and existing accounting requirements, including tax structures, leasing arrangements, financing transactions and group restructurings.

Ian is currently leading KPMG’s IFRS 16 service offering. He has recently led the accounting work stream of a FTSE 100 global IFRS 16 implementation project. Over the past 12 months Ian has led IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 implementation projects across a number of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies.

He has led the development of KPMG’s IFRS 16 Transition Impact Assessment tool which is being used to perform quantification of the impact of IFRS 16 comparing the impact of key judgements such as transition options through to balance-sheet, P&L and KPI’s. He also led the development of KPMG’s IFRS 16 digital learning modules.

Ian leads the UK Accounting Advisory Service team’s offerings in the business services and construction sectors, including running a construction sector IFRS forum, which is attended by a number of the UK’s major construction and facilities management companies.

Prior to joining the Accounting Advisory Service London team, Ian worked in Accounting Advisory Services for KPMG Australia working in their Sydney office. While there he specialised in providing accounting support to transaction teams working on acquisitions and major infrastructure projects. Whilst in this role Ian went on a 10 month client secondment acting as Finance Manager for the Infrastructure Investments and PFI Services departments, within a major global construction company, specialising in PFI accounting for the SPV entities.

Prior to joining Accounting Advisory Services Ian spent five years working within KPMG’s audit function in both the UK and Cayman Islands.
