Huw joined KPMG from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) which he led for 7 years as its Director General. He brings extensive knowledge and understanding of the insurance and long-term savings market and its regulation. During his time at the ABI, Huw led the insurance sector’s response to Brexit and Covid-19 as well as key issues such as Solvency II reform, implementation of the Freedom & Choice pension changes and GI Pricing reform.
Huw sat on the Executive Committee of Insurance Europe from 2015-21 and also served as a non-executive director of The CityUK. He helped set up Flood Re in the UK and served as the SID of its board from 2016-21.
Previously Huw worked in Group Strategy at RBS and as a special advisor in 10 Downing Street and the Home Office in Sir Tony Blair’s government. He began his career as a journalist having studied Modern History at university.
