Alan Turner is Chief Operating Officer for Tax & Legal Services at KPMG UK and Switzerland. He is responsible for the operational management of the business and is a member of the UK Management Committee and the Tax & Legal Executive Committee.
Prior to his current role, he held various senior roles across our business, including Regional Head of Tax in Scotland and leading the Tax & Legal Services practice for KPMG’s Corporates business in the UK for more than three years. Earlier in his career, Alan led KPMG’s UK-US Corridor, while based in New York for 3 years.
Alan has more than 25 years’ experience advising clients on a wide range of tax matters. He works with large listed multinational organisations and is responsible for leading KPMG’s global tax relationship for some of our largest accounts. He has worked across a range of sectors including energy and natural resources, consumer markets, life sciences, aerospace and defence, industrials, technology, media and telecommunications, financial services and private capital.
His experience includes UK and international tax advisory, global tax compliance and transformation, and the audit of tax for major UK and overseas-listed organisations. He has advised on the structuring of inbound and outbound investment, transactions and financing, providing clients with practical advice and implementation support. He has also led complex global compliance engagements, helping organisations respond to the increasing demands of tax authorities and transform their tax operations through technology and artificial intelligence.
Alan is Chair of the Tax Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having previously chaired its International and Large Business Tax Committee, and is a member of its Policy Leadership Board.
