Paul is a Partner in KPMG's Financial Services Advisory practice, where he advises UK retail banks and building societies on large-scale transformation. His work spans the banking operating model end-to-end: from customer propositions and products to the operations, channels and cost structures that support them. A particular focus is the intersection of technology and business performance, helping financial institutions apply AI, data and platform modernisation in ways that create practical value rather than simply technological change.
He brings more than two decades of experience both inside the industry and advising it. Before joining KPMG, Paul served on the Executive Board of Nationwide Building Society as Managing Director for Everyday Banking, with responsibility for many of the organisation's core banking activities. Prior to that, as Chief Commercial Officer at Metro Bank, he played a central role in scaling the business from start-up through IPO to profitability during a period of rapid growth and disruption in UK retail banking.
His experience combines strategic leadership with a detailed understanding of how banks operate day to day: the design and economics of products, the processes that support them, the channels through which customers are served, and the operational disciplines required to deliver sustainable performance. This perspective allows him to bridge the gap between boardroom ambition and operational reality, particularly as the industry adapts to AI and other emerging technologies.
