James has worked in the field of indirect tax for 29 years and leads KPMG’s indirect tax business, specialising in advising on VAT, customs duty and other indirect taxes across the full spectrum of sectors and industries.
His recent projects include :
- helping clients in the retail and leisure sectors to achieve VAT as well as duty savings through product review and classification;
- supporting international businesses with the management of global indirect tax compliance processes, including outsourcing, insourcing and process optimisation;
- assisting businesses with the design and implementation of indirect tax transformation projects focused on delivering greater efficiency, increased compliance as well as improved MI; and
- Defending clients’ positions in relation to indirect tax disputes with HMRC and resolving through negotiation and litigation.
James is also the tax and legal lead for KPMG’s private enterprise sector, ensuring that the full suit of the firm’s tax and legal capability is made available to support privately owned businesses, and their owners, to achieve their objectives.
