Ian is a Partner in KPMG's Financial Services practice. He has experience from across a broad range of listed and Financial Services organisations, including Global Systemically Important Banks (G-SIBs), other banks and Public Interest Entities, asset managers, payments businesses and fast-growing technology-enabled firms. His experience spans international, UK and US audit and regulatory frameworks, with particular expertise in global markets operations, financial control, and valuations, as well as audit quality and matters of regulatory interest.
Ian's recent work includes supporting banks on complex judgements, inspection-related matters, product control and valuation topics, and the audit implications of emerging technologies. He works closely with audit, regulatory and advisory specialists to help organisations navigate complex regulatory, governance, financial control, and technology challenges. He is an active contributor to industry thought leadership, having led discussions on the Future of Product Control, participated in industry panels and forums, and helped develop published perspectives on the evolving role of financial control functions within banking organisations.
Ian previously led KPMG UK's Department of Professional Practice for Audit (DPP Audit), the firm's central technical audit function responsible for audit methodology, national audit training and supporting teams on complex, high-profile, and technical matters. In this role, he worked closely with engagement teams from all sectors, firm leadership and audit regulators, helping shape methodology, responding to emerging regulatory developments, and supporting colleagues on challenging judgements. He has also played a leading role in KPMG's work on auditing artificial intelligence and digital assets, helping shape the firm's approach to emerging technologies and their implications for assurance.
