Governments are becoming more interventionist, geopolitical considerations are carrying greater weight, and competition for innovation is intensifying. Yet the Netherlands appears remarkably stable, retaining sixth place out of 32 countries in the 2026 AmCham Life Sciences & Health Benchmark. The central message of the 2026 benchmark is that the Netherlands remains strong upstream but faces increasing pressure in translating this strength into downstream ecosystem outcomes.
