What are Financed and Facilitated Emissions? Emissions originating from Financial Institutions' on-balance sheet exposure from lending and investment activities are termed as financed emissions, whereas facilitated emissions are generated from off-balance sheet activities, such as underwriting and other capital market issuance activities. These emissions form a significant part of FIs' scope 3 emissions related to Category 15 as per the GHG Protocol.
