Regulatory change remains a defining feature of the asset management landscape. While the pace of reform continues, the focus has shifted from creating entirely new frameworks to realigning existing rules to better support growth, competitiveness and effective market functioning.

Drawing on insights from almost 250 regulatory developments across more than 20 jurisdictions and global standard-setting bodies, KPMG's 16th annual Evolving Asset Management Regulation report explores the trends shaping the regulatory agenda for asset managers worldwide.

What I find particularly interesting in this year’s report is the shift from more regulation to better regulation, with a greater emphasis on growth, resilience and innovation. This resonates strongly with what we are seeing in Luxembourg: ManCos and AIFMs are increasingly focused on scaling intelligently, leveraging technology and AI, as well as their wider group models while continuing to strengthen governance and oversight. In my view, regulatory excellence and operational transformation are increasingly two sides of the same coin.
