Strengthening immigration services capabilities to support cross-border workforce mobility
Tokyo, Japan – KPMG in Japan today announced the establishment of KPMG Immigration Corporation, which commenced operations on September 1, 2026, to support immigration procedures and associated compliance matters arising from cross-border workforce mobility.
As corporate activities continue to globalize and the use of highly skilled international talent grows, cross-border workforce mobility has become a critical component of corporate growth strategies. At the same time, immigration frameworks and regulatory environments across jurisdictions have become increasingly complex, making it essential for organizations to facilitate the movement of talent while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
In addition to immigration procedures such as work/residence permits and visa applications, effective management of cross-border workforce mobility requires close coordination across multiple specialist areas, including tax, social security, payroll, and HR/labor administration. Consequently, demand continues to grow for integrated advisory services capable of addressing these interconnected issues through a coordinated and multidisciplinary approach.
KPMG Immigration Corporation will provide immigration-related services for inbound assignments of foreign talent to Japan, outbound transfers from Japan to overseas locations, and movements of personnel between overseas offices. This entity will work in close collaboration with KPMG in Japan’s experts in tax, human resources, global mobility, social security, payroll, and advisory services. Leveraging KPMG’s global network of member firms across countries and regions worldwide, KPMG Immigration Corporation will deliver consistent, high-quality services to help clients manage the challenges associated with cross-border workforce mobility.
