      MAKE FINANCE FLOW

      Empowering the future finance function

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) recognised that the demands on finance leaders are changing. They’re no longer just technical experts. They need to be adding strategic value. They need to understand the impact of AI. They need to be at the forefront of change.

This is the story of how we helped CCEP implement The Future of Finance Academy to upskill its people and ensure they’re future-ready.

      MAKE THE FUTURE

      The changing face of finance

AI, geopolitics and a changing workforce are disrupting how businesses operate and create value. And that means the demands on finance leaders are changing. They can’t just be technical experts. They need to also be strategists, storytellers, influencers, collaborators, change agents, problem-solvers and performance managers. They must be as confident conveying the corporate vision and driving digital transformation, as they are analysing financial data and overseeing compliance.

The company turned to KPMG to help it transform its highly skilled and experienced finance professionals into future-ready business partners – and to embed lasting behavioural change at scale.

Our finance function is in each one of our local markets, supporting the local businesses and the communities that they serve, as well as dealing with the size and complexity of a multinational business. While we are really proud of what we've achieved as a finance function, the future of CCEP Finance is dependent on the skills and capabilities of our next generation of finance talent.

      MAKE DREAM TEAMS

Implementing the Future of Finance Academy

We worked with CCEP to co-create a comprehensive learning programme for senior managers and associate directors in its finance function. We started by developing a strong understanding of the unique business context in which the company and its finance function operate.

As well as determining the best mode of delivery across its globally distributed finance function, that enabled us to identify where we could stretch CCEP’s ambitions.

For example, we proposed making the final module of the course a showcase presentation. Trainees would apply what they’d learned to genuine challenges facing the firm, and propose solutions to the board in a Dragons’ Den-style competition. And while that meant adding to finance leaders’ already busy workloads, it proved to be one of the most successful elements – enabling participants to put the skills they’d learnt into practice.

Before work on the Academy began, we created a detailed plan setting out how the two teams would work together, how to ensure consistency across the learning modules, the quality assurance processes, and how we’d manage changes to scope.

We collaborated closely with CCEP to co-create bespoke learning content, with CCEP’s senior finance acting as subject-matter experts alongside our own finance specialists.

Our goal was to empower CCP's finance team with skills in analytics, automation, and strategic thinking. Over the eight weeks, the cohort experienced practical projects and real-world case studies.

      MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

      A culture of continuous learning

The Future of Finance Academy takes the form of a structured eight-week training programme. The immersive content is tailored for CCEP’s business context and is designed to deliver lasting and measurable improvements.

Participants work through five core modules, delivered face-to-face and virtually. These cover:

      • The changing global finance landscape
      • Leading data and analytics practices
      • Governance and risk management
      • How to lead successful transformation
      • Applying the learning to the company’s three key priorities – sustainability, AI and digital transformation

To date, four cohorts have been through the Academy, with eight more planned. That will mean 360 finance leaders upskilled for the future.

CCEP has seen a marketed rise in both employee engagement and retention. Participants are actively seeking opportunities to further strengthen their new skills, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

The programme is not a regular training course. It's the start of a journey, equipping our people with the skills and capabilities to both face the future and to thrive.

      How we’re making the difference

The Finance of the Future Academy has given CCEP’s finance leaders the opportunity to refresh core finance skills while expanding their knowledge in areas such as AI and change management.

What’s making the difference is the combination of CCEP’s real-world content and KPMG’s expert insight. That’s made for practical and relevant learning that can be easily applied in the future.

The programme has helped prepare CCEP’s finance leaders for the future, it has broken down silos in the finance function, and it’s helped foster a culture of continuous learning.

This is just the beginning. With the foundations we have built, we are ready to take on new challenges, drive further automation and continue developing our people.
