With global demand for green and digital jobs expected to surge by 2030 at a net increase of 78 million jobs, KPMG in Singapore is taking a national step forward to prepare young Singaporeans for the workforce of tomorrow — one that blends sustainability, innovation and human capability.

Through a strategic partnership with the National Youth Council (NYC), KPMG is contributing to the Mentoring SG movement by launching “Discover. Experience. Enable.” — a large-scale corporate mentoring initiative that connects youths aged 19 to 28 with professionals across multiple sectors. The initiative aims to expose these youths with the human skills that AI cannot replicate — creativity, critical thinking and ethical judgment — all through tailored mentoring opportunities with KPMG’s industry specialists and experts.

As part of the firm’s national commitment to youth development, KPMG professionals will dedicate a targeted 10,000 hours over one calendar year to a well-designed programme of mentoring, job shadowing and learning exchanges — one of the largest private-sector youth mentoring efforts in Singapore to date. This amplifies the national mentoring agenda by NYC and Mentoring SG which places youth engagement at its core.

Equipping Singapore’s Next Generation for a Sustainable Economy

The initiative is designed to bridge the education-to-industry gap, helping students and young professionals build agility rooted in leadership competencies and multidisciplinary skillsets. It prepares them to thrive in fast-evolving professions, particularly in areas experiencing the fastest job growth such as AI, decarbonisation, sustainability reporting and ESG assurance.

These are sectors where KPMG already advises leading businesses and the government in Singapore. The mentoring programme gives youths first-hand exposure to how careers in areas like technology, innovation and climate resilience are increasingly converging into new, interdisciplinary forms of work.

The next generation will inherit an economy shaped by AI and the environment. We’re equipping tomorrow’s changemakers to lead at the nexus of innovation and sustainability, by cultivating versatile skillsets that are valued across industries and essential to shaping a more resilient future.

Distinctive Mentoring Model: From Boardroom to Biosphere

KPMG’s mentoring approach is unlike traditional education or internship programmes. It is:

      • Cross-Functional: Youths meet mentors from Audit, Tax, Consulting and Deal Advisory, covering topics like AI and innovation, sustainability and workforce transformation, exploring how these disciplines intersect and collectively contribute to Singapore’s growth.

      • Future-Focused and Practical: From leadership capabilities and multidisciplinary thinking to ethical judgment, young professionals are empowered with foundational skills to navigate complexity and lead with purpose across industries.

      • Authentic and Applied: Mentors share diverse industry experiences, case studies and challenges in navigating emerging technologies and AI, and how to achieve sustainable growth.

      • Corporate-Led: Mentoring is built into KPMG’s professional culture of excellence — ensuring structure, accountability and national reach.

      Three Pillars of Impact

      • Job Discovery – “You Could Be Anything.”

Youths gain deeper insights into business ecosystems through the co-creation of sector-specific materials such as career storytelling and short video content that highlight how KPMG professionals contribute to sustainability, technology and innovation projects. These bite-sized, informative content will be made available on NYC’s Discover On My Way portal which records more than 230,000 unique visitors who visit the website to explore career paths, gain valuable networking opportunities and industry insights, and experience hands-on job tasters.

The content will also be shared with Education and Career Guidance counsellors at secondary schools and institutes of higher learning to broaden youth perspectives on diverse career pathways. The goal: to show young people they are not confined to a singular career track — and that meaningful, multidisciplinary careers exist in areas like decarbonisation, AI innovation and corporate transformation.

      • Job Exposure – “See It. Experience It.”

Participants can either join regular flash mentoring sessions with senior professionals or take part in one-day job experience sessions at KPMG offices — observing “a day in the life” of consultants, tax specialists or sustainability experts. Three shadowing cycles will run annually, allowing eligible youths to experience real work environments, engage with industry leaders and discover where their interests align.

      • Job Enablement – “From Learning to Leading.”

Early-career professionals (also youths) will be mentored through learning circles and peer-to-professional exchanges, focusing on leadership, communication and ethical decision-making in fast-changing workplaces. This ensures continuity — helping graduates evolve from mentees into confident, resilient professionals who contribute back to the mentoring ecosystem.

      National and Global Relevance

The “Discover. Experience. Enable.” initiative supports Singapore’s Forward SG and SkillsFuture agendas while aligning with global transformation. It will:

      • Expose youths to high-growth global sectors in AI, decarbonisation and sustainable impact.

      • Strengthen Singapore’s pipeline of future-ready professionals that contribute to national resilience and competitiveness.

      • Reinforce KPMG’s leadership with its global talent model by mentoring and growing future generations of leaders who drive excellence across the ecosystem.

      Programme Registration

The “Discover. Experience. Enable.” programme will officially commence in 2026. To register your interest, visit NYC’s Discover On My Way platform.

Registrations open in early 2026; limited places available for each mentoring cycle.
