Shabbir has extensive experience of working on taxation matters over a period of 28 years including seventeen years in tax function of KPMG, seven years in the tax department of a multinational group of companies and four years in the tax function of E&Y.
He has represented large corporate clients from various industry segments including banking and finance, insurance, manufacturing and trading, energy and natural resources, lubricants, engineering and construction, pharmaceutical, telecommunication, international chain of hotels and clubs and companies dealing in computer hardware and software etc. before tax appellate and assessing authorities.
He has advised clients in the area of tax planning and technical issues like business set-up, tax-efficient structuring, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, head office expenditure, royalties, fee for technical services, technical collaboration agreements, management fee, taxation of income under double tax treaties etc. He has led teams for tax due diligence (buy side) of companies from financial, telecommunication and manufacturing sectors.
