Muhammad Atiq Ur Rehman

Atiq has has extensive experience in tax advisory for various multinational clients which includes, but is not limited to, taxation of non-residents, taxation of controlled foreign companies, structuring of international entry routes for various local and international clients. He is well versed in latest developments in the transfer pricing arena as well as the recent application of the Multilateral Instrument in Pakistan.

He has significant experience of advising foreign investors in setting-up of businesses in Pakistan. He also has significant experience in liaising with the tax authorities for facilitating the smooth setup and transition of foreign companies in Pakistan.

Major engagements handled by him in recent past include:

• Business restructuring of one of the largest local pharmaceutical group of companies based in Lahore
• Restructuring of a major beverage bottling company in Lahore.
• Structuring and entry routes for foreign confectionaires in Pakistan
• Group restructuring of a major IT sector group in Pakistan, Bermuda and USA.

Atiq is also the current lead in Pakistan who is overseeing major tax secondment services which include notable services to KPMG Professional Services. The areas of secondment services which are being led by Atiq include tax policy, mergers and acquisitions, VAT compliance and transfer pricing.

Atiq also continues to play a fundamental role in developing resources that serve a broad array of sectors across jurisdictions and has many success stories in placement of resources at key clients.
