The Aotearoa Circle - National Food Strategy

KPMG is proud to be working alongside The Aotearoa Circle on their National Food Strategy project, which aims to create a productive, sustainable, inclusive and resilient food system for all New Zealanders.

New Zealand’s need for a holistic National Food Strategy was highlighted by leaders at The Fenwick Forum in June. The Covid-19 pandemic and the impacts of climate change are being felt and this is demonstrating the need to strengthen the resilience of our food system.

Phase I of The Aotearoa Circle’s National Food Strategy project will be supported by Leadership and Advisory Groups to bring together the evidence and research necessary, mobilise the key stakeholders who will drive strategy development, and establish an inclusive platform for that process. Following this, Phase II will draft a National Food Strategy, which will include a set of recommendations to receiving Ministers.

KPMG have been appointed in a secretariat role supporting Phase I, and KPMG’s Executive Chairman Matt Prichard has been appointed as the Deputy Chair. Matt will be working alongside Chairwoman Rangimarie Hunia to drive the initial phase of The Aotearoa Circle’s National Food Strategy project.
