Immigration New Zealand have announced that the AEWV (Accredited Employer Work Visa) that was due to come into effect on the 1st November this year, has been deferred and will now only be launched in mid 2022 – date to be confirmed.
Other important changes that take effect
- Essential Skills work visas for those earning under the median wage ($27 /hr) will be granted a work visa for 24 months, instead of only 12 months. The duration of Essential Skills visas for roles paid the median wage or above will still be up to three years.
- Employers will no longer need to advertise or prove that they have undertaken a “labour market check”, if they wish to retain an employee working in the same role and location.
- Applicants applying for a visa for the same role will not need to provide police clearances or medicals (if they were previously provided).
