Charmian leads the KPMG Private Enterprise Advisory team across the Central Region (Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Hawkes Bay) that supports private businesses and organisations in achieving high performance and growth through a wide range of advisory services.
As a seasoned business strategist and designer, Charmian works with business and community leaders across diverse public and private industries to succeed in domestic and international markets. She is passionate about supporting ambitious entrepreneurs, innovators, and visionaries to move their ideas into action, accelerating and amplifying their impact, and building sustainable value. Charmian is experienced in leading engagements involving Boards, C-Suite, and complex stakeholder groups to develop growth strategies, craft competitive business models, and design impactful new services.
With a background in biomedical science, law and business, Charmian brings over 18 years of experience advising a diverse range of public and private clients, including Fortune 500 and blue chip companies across New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the United States, startups, privately-owned and family businesses, iwi organisations and Māori businesses, central government, local government, and not-for-profits. Her cross-industry experience includes export, technology, agri-business, food and beverage, hi-tech manufacturing, tourism, consumer products, health, international aid, education, entertainment, and professional services.
Charmian’s rich whakapapa connecting her to Ngāpuhi, China, Burma, and Malaysia, means she takes an active interest in indigenous entrepreneurship and applies cultural lenses to bring forth opportunities to create new value.
