Sophie Smons is a partner in the International Tax department, focusing on commercial and industrial companies. She has over 23 years of extensive tax experience, including a three-year assignment at KPMG New York (2000–2003) as Head of KPMG's Luxembourg Tax Center of Excellence, advising North American multinationals expanding into Europe, as well as a three-month secondment in KPMG London (2005). Sophie has robust expertise in complex merger and acquisition projects, integrations and spin-offs for multinational corporations as well as in cross-border finance, holding and IP structures. Her main industry expertise includes corporate headquarters, life sciences, chemicals, IT and media.
