Stephane embarked on a new adventure with KPMG Luxembourg after many years of working as a treasurer and broker in financial services. Today, he is an iNAV product leader and manages a team of more than 30 people.
Tell us about your professional background?
"I joined KPMG Luxembourg back in 2007. I studied economics in Nancy, France , and Luxembourg. Before joining KPMG, I worked in a private company as a treasurer and in a private bank as a broker. Overall, I have over 20 years of experience in the area of financial markets and instruments."
Why KPMG Luxembourg?
"The firm’s values were in line with my own values, such as ‘we lead by example’, ‘we are open and honest in our communication’ and ‘above all, we act with integrity’. Those values and the fact that KPMG is a well-known global company made my choice very easy at the time.
In addition, Luxembourg is at the centre of Europe, and over the weekends you can easily visit France, Germany or Belgium. The quality of life here is exceptional. Finally, I knew that joining KPMG would help me improve my technical and soft skills through the continuous trainings provided by the firm.
What I like the most about KPMG is the people I work with. Some of them have been my mentors and I will never forget what I learnt from them. Today, I act as a mentor for younger people and can now pass on what I learnt. Our commitment to ethics and integrity is also very important to me. The work atmosphere is also great, and offers many advantages like such as flexible working hours, training programme, and study leave to pursue professional qualifications."
What do you do at KPMG Luxembourg?
"I am the iNAV product leader and manage a team of more than 30 people from very different backgrounds (former traders and auditors, mathematicians, IT developers, project managers, etc.) The role of this department is to perform valuations of complex and non-complex financial products (including OTC derivatives and structured products) in the context of financial statement audits of banks, investment funds and insurance companies.
My job is very interesting as we are working in a disruptive environment, where we need to find new solutions to be more efficient and, in the meantime, always strive to deliver the best services to our clients. It is never boring!"
What advice would you give someone who would like to join KPMG?
"Join KPMG if you want to have real responsibilities and the opportunity to grow professionally. You will have access to top-class training resources, and will receive support to pursue your professional qualifications. KPMG Luxembourg offers a great working environment for its people!"
