Experience

As the head of Tax Division at KPMG Korea, Hak Sup has been responsible for managing KPMG’s global efforts on advising tax for a number of the firm’s largest and most diverse multinational clients, interacting with the clients’ management. With more than 26 years of experiences at KPMG Korea, he specializes in working with global companies in various industries, including multinational banking and investment funds and financial institutions with extensive experiences in advising efficient investment/ business/ tax strategy.

Before joining Tax Division, he led Deal Advisory Division 2 and Banking and Finance Division 3 of KPMG Korea. He served as the head of Deal Advisory Division 2, advising the clients to execute their M&A strategy in a broad range of transactions, such as restructuring, NPL and asset securitization advisory, work-out M&A, infrastructure transactions, etc. He also assisted the multinational clients in a number of global investment and divestiture transactions, providing financial due diligence services for cross-border M&A projects to foreign investors pursuing for investment opportunities in Korea.

While serving at Banking and Finance Division, he had been on a secondment to KPMG Sydney office for 3 years from 2000 to further develop cross-border opportunities and returned to KPMG Korea in 2003. As a partner in-charge of Banking and Finance Division, he performed various accounting and transaction consulting projects, such as IFRS conversion, US GAAP conversions, SOX, restructuring projects, etc.
