Sustainability through Innovation

May is Internal Audit Awareness Month and one of the key highlights this month was The Institute of Internal Auditors’ 9th African Federation of Institutes of Internal Audit (AFIIA) Conference themed ‘Sustainability through Innovation’ which KPMG Ghana was a sponsor.

The conference sought to improve collaboration between internal audit and leadership and focused on several key issues which affect institutions in contemporary times.  The event provided an avenue for discussions on cutting edge innovation and modern day issues, which are critical to the survival and growth of institutions in particular, and economies in general.

The topics for the conference focused on the changing environment - particularly technology, changing human resource skills needs, financial management, fraud and corruption, governance and risk management practices.

Our head of Advisory, Andy Akoto was invited to speak on a panel discussion entitled ‘Emerging Trends in Internal Auditing – Expectations of Stakeholders’. Others who participated in the panel discussion were Modou Ceesay (Auditor General, The Gambia), David Wagacha (TeamMate Solutions, Africa AFII VP – Eastern Africa, Kenya) and Michael Asiedu-Antwi (Rev) (Partner, PWC Ghana).
