      Understanding the class action

On December 30, 2019, class action proceedings began in the Supreme Court of British Columbia following a major data breach announced by the provider. On July 25, 2023, the Ontario Superior Court certified the class action and consolidated multiple lawsuits filed across Canada. The certified class includes:

‟Any person living in Canada as of the date of Settlement Approval who is a current or former user of the provider’s services whose Personal Information is known to have been exfiltrated as part of the data breach.”

The court appointed KPMG as the claims administrator in mid-2023. The administration will conclude in 2025.
