KPMG in the US helped Uber leverage ServiceNow technology to create workplace and mobile solutions for getting back to work. As Uber prepared to reopen its offices globally during COVID-19, the KPMG team and ServiceNow worked together to create a fast and efficient, technology-based solution.

KPMG in the UK has been re-appointed to deliver the UK Civil Service’s learning and development (L&D) program for a further four years. The firm’s previous engagement with Civil Service Learning (CSL) began in 2016 and provided learning activities to over 450,000 civil servants, making it the UK Government’s largest ever L&D project.

The next four-year engagement is every bit as ambitious, providing a new central learning framework in support of the Civil Service’s modernizing reform agenda. This transformational project is intended to further upskill civil servants, helping them respond to society’s shifting expectations of how public services should be delivered. It covers everything from the core skills required to work in government through to more specialist competencies and leadership skills.

Through its Learning Solutions business, KPMG in the UK leads a consortium of over 100 L&D suppliers, delivering an extensive learning curriculum and acting as a single point of contact for all CSL activities across the organization. If required, the entire curriculum can now be delivered digitally and virtually; partly as a response to Covid-19 but also because of the way in which KPMG in the UK has leveraged the capabilities of the organization’s strategic global alliances with businesses such as Microsoft, to optimize the digital learning experience.

Also featuring a flexible delivery model, strong central support infrastructure and the scope for contextualized learning activities, this is a dynamic learning program, befitting the modern-day Civil Service.

Mobilizing globally around our clients’ biggest issues

One of the ways we bring our best to serve clients of KPMG firms globally is to draw on our broad network of talented people around the world, often relocating them to work on projects where their expertise is required. The challenges of 2020 have made us think strategically and differently around how we mobilize our talent. We met the challenges of border closures and travel restrictions by building virtual delivery teams:

  • Approximately 120 professionals from KPMG in Vietnam and India are working on an SAP Powered Enterprise engagement for a large South-East Asian telecommunications service provider.
  • Professionals from KPMG in Indonesia, India and Singapore worked together on a two-month, time sensitive, restructuring project for Krakatau Steel, Indonesia’s largest steel producer.
  • Risk Consulting colleagues from Hong Kong (SAR), China as well as Korea and Malaysia worked to help a large regional insurance client improve the profitability of two of its business units (in Thailand and Korea).
