Updated procedures to obtain opinion on compliance with social security tax obligations
The government on 4 May 2023 issued an update to the procedures for an employer to obtain an opinion from the Mexican Insurance Institute regarding its compliance with social security tax obligations, which were originally published in the official gazette in September 2022. Read TaxNewsFlash
The update established two transitory provisions applicable to the rules for obtaining such a compliance opinion:
- The first indicates that such a compliance opinion will be valid for a period of 15 calendar days, during which the taxpayer may formalize its relevant government contracts.
- The second states that the taxpayer must prove to the contracting government entity that the compliance opinion was obtained during the 15-calendar-day period that the taxpayer has to sign the relevant contract.
The update is effective 5 May 2023.
