At the end of February, a webinar was held on the topic of “Financed Emissions.”
The discussion focused on current regulations, standards and the challenges brought by the green transition. The webinar was hosted by our experts, Stanislava Levačić and Marina Jovanov.

What are financed emissions?
Financed emissions refer to indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by projects or companies that receive investment or financial support from financial institutions. These emissions arise from the activities of those entities and are associated with the financial institution’s portfolio.
During the webinar, participants were introduced to the latest European guidelines and regulations shaping sustainable finance, as well as the global GHG accounting standard for the financial industry – the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).
We explored the challenges involved in collecting and verifying the data necessary for measuring financed emissions, as well as emerging trends that are increasingly influencing the future of finance and climate-related reporting.

Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about the practical aspects of financed emissions measurement and the challenges companies face when aligning their operations with sustainability standards.
The results of a poll conducted during the webinar revealed that the majority of organizations identify material impacts from both physical and transition risks within their portfolios.
