The European Commission has launched new calls for tenders under its funding mechanism, the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), for objects of recharging infrastructure.

Funding in the form of unit contributions (per recharging point) can be obtained for:

  • publicly accessible recharging stations for light-duty vehicles (LDV) to be deployed along the TEN-T road network. To receive it, the following conditions must be satisfied:
    • Infrastructure – publicly accessible recharging stations dedicated to light-duty vehicles with a minimum power output of 150 kW. – at least 50% of the eligible charging points in the pool must be able to provide 150 kW power output in parallel
    • Location - the recharging infrastructure must be located on the relevant TEN-T road sections identified in the “eligibility map” or within 3 km driving distance from the nearest exit of a TEN-T road.

  • Publicly accessible recharging stations dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles deployed along the TEN-T road network, including publicly accessible recharging stations on safe and secure parking areas and TEN-T urban nodes. To receive it, the following conditions must be satisfied:
    • Infrastructure – publicly accessible recharging stations for heavy-duty vehicles with recharging points with a minimum power output of 350 kW along the TEN-T road network, on safe and secure parking areas, and in TEN-T urban nodes. – publicly accessible recharging stations for heavy-duty vehicles with a minimum power output of 150 kW in safe and secure parking areas.
    • Location – the recharging infrastructure must be located along the TEN-T road network or within 3 km driving distance from the nearest exit of a TEN-T road, including safe and secure parking areas and TEN-T urban nodes.

Unit contribution per recharging point with a minimum power output of:

· 150 kW - EUR 30,000 (cohesion pool)
· 350 kW - EUR 60,000 (cohesion pool)
· 150 kW - EUR 20,000 (general pool)
· 350 kW - EUR 40,000 (general pool)

Support in the form of co-funding is available for publicly accessible recharging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles along the TEN-T road network, including safe and secure parking areas and TEN-T urban nodes:

  • Infrastructure – publicly accessible recharging stations for heavy-duty vehicles with at least four recharging points, with a minimum power output of 1 MW each, or a combination of at least 4 recharging points with a minimum power output of 1 MW and 350 kW or 150 kW. In the latter case, for each pool, the number of supported recharging points with a minimum power output of 350 kW or 150 kW must not exceed the number of supported recharging points with a minimum output power of 1 MW. – The support will be available for: recharging points/stations and related electricity infrastructure within the pool (including wiring, electricity sub-stations, batteries and on-site electricity management equipment).

  • Locations – the recharging infrastructure must be located along the TEN-T road network or within 3 km driving distance from the nearest exit of a TEN-T road, including safe and secure parking areas and TEN-T urban nodes.

Supplementary areas of support include:

  • Projects regarding development of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure along the TEN-T road network and in TEN-T urban nodes;
  • Projects regarding development of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure supplying public transport in TEN-T urban nodes;
  • Projects regarding electrification and development of recharging and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in TEN-T inland waterway and maritime ports areas;
  • Projects regarding electrification of airport ground operations and development of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in TEN-T airports;
  • Projects regarding development of hydrogen refuelling stations for shunting locomotives in TEN-T railway terminals;
  • Projects regarding development of bunkering infrastructure for ammonia and methanol in TEN-T inland waterway and maritime ports.

The maximum grant amount per recharging point will be determined in the following manner:

  1. For a charging point with power output of 1 MW or more – 50% of eligible costs (70% in outermost regions).
  2. For a charging point with power output of at least 350 kW but lower than 1 MW – 50% of eligible costs (70% in outermost regions), but not more than EUR 40,000.
  3. For a charging point with power output of at least 150 kW but lower than 350 kW – 50% of eligible costs (70% in outermost regions), but not more than EUR 20,000.

Proposals can be submitted before the lapse of one of the following deadlines:

  • 24 September 2024, 5 PM (CET)
  • 11 June 2024, 5 PM (CET)
  • 17 December 2024, 5 PM (CET)

As part of the pre-selection process, by 15 May 2024, all entities interested in submitting a proposal in the first call deadline should provide the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy with information on the projects proposed (via form).
