Pieter Steyn is the Country Managing Partner of KPMG Papua New Guinea, bringing a wealth of experience, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of the firm’s business and culture. Since joining KPMG PNG in January 2018, Pieter has played a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s strategic direction and operational excellence.
In addition to the Managing Partner role, Pieter is also the PNG Head of Audit, overseeing our 70 staff strong Audit &Assurance division. His extensive background in external audit, gained through professional experience in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea, has equipped him with robust commercial acumen and a high level of professional credibility.
Throughout his career, Pieter has demonstrated a proven ability to lead large, complex engagements, drive process improvements, and enhance operational efficiencies. He has worked closely with senior stakeholders including CEOs, CFOs, Board Directors, and fellow Partners, while also mentoring professionals at all levels, from Graduates to Partner.
His exposure to diverse cultures and business environments has enabled him to adapt seamlessly and operate effectively in dynamic settings. Pieter’s core responsibilities have included managing strategic relationships, delivering high-impact engagements, leading multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to business development and strategic decision-making.
In addition to his client-facing roles, Pieter has facilitated numerous workshops and presentations, covering both technical accounting topics and soft skills development, further underscoring his commitment to professional growth in PNG and knowledge sharing.
