KPMG in Malta has announced the appointment of Marika Azzopardi, Joelene Farrugia, Danica Galea, Georges Xuereb and Carlos Zammit as Directors, effective 1 April 2026, while Mark Anthony Fenech was previously appointed in October 2025. Marika, Joelene and Carlos serve clients within the Audit function, while Georges forms part of the Advisory function at KPMG in Malta. Danica and Mark Anthony hold Director roles at a regional level within the KPMG network.
Marika Azzopardi
Marika currently co‑leads the Insurance Audit Cluster at KPMG in Malta. She brings experience in serving regulated and listed entities and has played a key role in shaping and implementing structured audit approaches to address complex reporting requirements.
Joelene Farrugia
Joelene specialises in iGaming and Technology engagements within the Audit function at KPMG in Malta. Since joining the firm, she has developed extensive experience auditing large, complex, multi-jurisdictional groups operating in highly regulated environments. She manages a strategically significant portfolio that includes several of the firm’s largest iGaming operators.
Mark Anthony Fenech
Mark Anthony joined KPMG in Malta in 2009, gaining experience within the Audit function. Since 2020, he has been part ofFirm’s regional Department of Professional Practice. In this role, Mark Anthony specialises in technical areas including going concern assessments, audit and assurance reporting, and agreed‑upon procedures.
Danica Galea
Danica joined KPMG in Malta’s Audit function immediately after graduating, where she specialised in gaming and international business clients. In 2021, she transitioned into a regional Ethics & Independence role, where she now co-leads a growing, multi-location Personal Independence team.. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing key processes, controls, and operational delivery across jurisdictions within the region.
Georges Xuereb
Georges provides a wide range of Accounting Advisory services, including group consolidations and the preparation of consolidated financial statements under both GAPSME and IFRS, technical accounting advice on complex matters, development of Excel-based models (such as leasing, ECL impairment and consolidation tools), and outsourced corporate accounting and compliance services, such as preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
Carlos Zammit
Carlos specialises in Private Enterprise engagements within the Audit function at KPMG in Malta. He has extensive experience leading audits across a range of industries, including local family-owned businesses, companies forming part of large international groups, and companies listed on the Malta Stock Exchange.
