Luke joined the Corporate Accounting Advisory Services department at KPMG on a full time basis in 2010 after obtaining his Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree at the University of Malta. Luke has experience in providing accounting support, preparation of financial statements, VAT compliance and other advisory and management support services to companies operating in various different market sectors. Since joining the firm, Luke has been in charge of various accounting and VAT engagements of clients ranging from local trading companies to more complex conglomerate multinational groups. Throughout his 13 year career with KPMG, Luke has been assigned a leading role in various financial reporting, budgeting and financial management assignments including instances where he was seconded as a senior accounting manager or as a temporary CFO replacement with clients operating in the logistics, internet gaming, automotive retail and financial services industries, as well as government entities. These engagements gave Luke valuable exposure on the management and operation of accounting functions, and proficiency in the use of a number of financial reporting systems. His role within the team sees him collaborating and coordinating with other disciplinary teams across different functions with the purpose of being the single point of contact for clients. He specialises in advising and supporting CFOs, working side by side with them to expedite certain CFO tasks, freeing up CFO time to focus on strategic decision making. Apart from the professional qualifications he has obtained in accountancy, VAT and financial services, he also endeavours to sharpen his skillset by regularly attending training covering technical topics, as well as other areas, such as soft skills. He also provides training, both internally within KPMG as well as through external learning institutions.
