The 2025 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum took place from 20-24 January in Davos, Switzerland. Under the theme of ‘Collaboration for the Intelligent Age’ there were high level discussions on the fundamental principles of reimagining growth, driving transformation across industries in the intelligent age, investing in people, safeguarding the planet and rebuilding trust. 

Driving growth through inclusive AI, Fusing technology, talent and a collaborative ecosystem in a multistakeholder world, Driving greater inclusivity through technology and AI and more were some of the discussion areas. 

Leaders from around the world participated at WEF to engage in critical dialogue that bring key issues to the global stage. Launch of India’s Digital Dividend Report

KPMG in India, in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), hosted a dynamic panel discussion, “The Digital Dividend: Fusing Technology, Talent, and a Collaborative Ecosystem in a Multistakeholder World.” The session explored the critical intersection of digital transformation, workforce adaptation, and multistakeholder collaboration. Panelists delved into how businesses, governments, and civil society can harness the digital dividend to create a future-ready workforce that is both inclusive and efficient.  

A key highlight of the event was the launch of “India’s Digital Dividend: The Strategic Roadmap Towards Becoming a Global Digital Leader." This insightful report outlines the essential steps required to position India as a frontrunner in the global digital economy. The report was unveiled in the presence of:  

  • Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State in the Education Department, Government of India,  
  • Bill Thomas, Global Chairman, KPMG International, and  
  • Yezdi Nagporewalla, CEO, KPMG in India.  

This strategic roadmap underscores the importance of leveraging digital transformation, fostering talent development, and promoting collaboration across sectors to solidify India’s position as a global digital leader.

Fostering Global Collaboration for a Water-Secure Future

The World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos served as a powerful platform for addressing one of humanity's most critical challenges: achieving sustainable and equitable Water management. A transformative session on Fostering Global Collaboration for a Water-Secure Future brought together global leaders, innovators, and policymakers, including:

  • Mr. C.R. Patil, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR, Government of India
  • Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra

The discussion also featured notable voices such as:

  • Mr. Rajeev Kumar Mittal, Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga
  • Mr. Nicolaj Bang, Alderman of Aarhus City, Denmark
  • Mr. Michael Webster, Head of the 2030 Water Resources Group, The World Bank
  • Dr. James Wescoat, Professor Emeritus, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Dr. Sujay Kumar, Research Physical Scientist, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration
  • Akhilesh Tuteja, representing KPMG India

The conversations highlighted India’s leadership in water sustainability through initiatives like Namami Gange and the pioneering efforts of the Global River Cities Alliance (GRCA). Launched at COP28 under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), GRCA stands as one of the first global alliances of its kind, bringing together over 275 river cities across 11 countries, alongside international funding agencies and knowledge partners. Its mission is to foster river conservation and champion sustainable water management at a global scale.

Solving water security requires a global commitment, with India setting an example through transformative initiatives. Harnessing technology, fostering innovation, and driving collaboration are essential to achieving a water-secure future for generations to come.
