Ummehaani is Partner, Third-party due diligence and ESG supply chain diligence at KPMG in India with over 20 years of experience in third-party risk management, secondary research, and due diligence on supply chains, providing strategic inputs to clients.
Ummehaani has been with KPMG in India for over 13 years, supporting global and India-based clients on a wide range of integrity due diligences, KYC, KYB, third-party due diligence and more recently ESG diligence on supply chains’ assignments. Her expertise lies in helping clients to proactively mitigate risk and fraud by identifying and addressing potential fraud and misconduct vulnerabilities before they materialise. She has hands-on experience in risk-based due diligence on third parties and expertise in providing clients with identifying and mitigating supply chain risks. Niche services also include conflict of interest diligences, related party transactions through in-depth due diligence, ‘fit and proper’ diligence and mining of subscribed data sources to identify potential issues of concern.
She has successfully executed over 10,000 counterparty due diligence assignments on target entities spread across 190+ global jurisdictions. She has also led large-scale engagements for multinational companies, focusing on identifying ESG-related risks in their supply chains, reputational risks, regulatory risks, and employee health and safety risks, enabling them to make informed and risk-aware decisions.
She has led Strategic Debt Restructuring (SDR) projects for large multinational banks in India, focusing on identifying risks associated with distressed companies and their new promoters in line with Reserve Bank of India directives. Over the past year, she has successfully delivered SDR-KYC projects for three large multinational banks in India, to uncover potential conflicts of interest between promoters of a distressed company and prospective buyers.
Prior to joining KPMG in India, she has worked with Fidelity Investments providing strategic insights, market analysis, and competitive updates through analytics, dashboards, and newsletters.
