At KPMG, we honor the core values that shape culture across our member firms, including a strong commitment to our communities. We are applying our skills, expertise, passions and resources to enable change and find sustainable solutions to local and global issues such as climate change, food and water scarcity, poverty, education, security, development and economic growth.

In Indonesia, we believe we can make positive contributions that empower changes in the society and communities where we live and operate. At the heart of KPMG Indonesia, we uphold four key corporate citizenship themes – Children, Education, Community and Environment, through our “Together We Care” programs.

Children and education

As a part of our company’s contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), these corporate citizenship programs focus especially on education and lifelong learning.

Early childhood education

We support early childhood education or Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) as we believe that good quality education for young children is a foundation for building a dynamic society.

Since 2014 KPMG has been helping the needs of underserved children via our PAUD initiatives. Currently, KPMG offers financial aid to several PAUDs in the poorer sections of Jakarta and in other smaller cities in Indonesia to improve education facilities for young children. So far, we have helped more than 1000 young children to improve their learning facilities and we also provided support to organize monthly healthy eating activities. We engaged a foundation with special trainers in storytelling as a teaching method to train the teachers and help increase students’ enthusiasm for learning. We at KPMG Indonesia have designed a new interactive and light teaching method drawing on individuals who hold the children's dream jobs such as as doctors, pilots and police officers. We invite our employee to donate books so that we are able to provide quality books for children in our community and increase their love of reading. We have also donated refurbished laptops to all of our supported PAUDs. We hope that this technology will inspire both students and teachers, and aid in both the preparation and teaching process.

Sign language literacy

In collaboration with PUSBISINDO, we provide sign language workshop and classes as a commitment to reduce inequalities within our community.

Community

We play an important and supportive role in contributing to the well-being of our surrounding communities where we are located. Our people work with individuals and local community groups to make these areas a better place to live.

Together we care day out (TWCDO)

In the spirit of making a real impact in our community and having our employees directly involved in the planning and implementation process.

Monthly donation to a cancer foundation

From the moment it was founded, it has not received any assistance from the government or other or other sustained donors thus far. We are committed in providing continuous support to them.

Supporting small enterprise

We support the small enterprise by purchasing the mangrove-based food products. The profits from the sales were used as funds for school infrastructure improvement of PAUD.

KPMG’s representative on environmental issues

We at KPMG want to spread awareness about the environment and encourage our colleagues to create a more sustainable future including explored the waste management program and engaged in specialized training sessions on sustainable agriculture in a zero-waste village.

Clean water to the survivor of Cianjur earthquake

In collaboration with Save the Children, our donations were used to provide clean water to the people of Cianjur. 900 survivors in 3 villages have received this clean water through the newly rebuilt infrastructure in the area.

Environment

We make our mark on the environment to build a more sustainable and resilient future. To keep the planet from warming more than 1.5 ° C above pre-industrial levels, we are committed to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 by driving a culture of sustainability practices to help ensure a healthy planet for generations to come. Decarbonization requires absorbing carbon from the atmosphere by capturing emissions and enhancing carbon storage in agricultural lands and forests.

Protecting the environment by planting mangroves trees

To campaign to go green and prevent sea abrasion, we are proud to offer our contribution in celebration of Indonesian Forestry Day.

Managing waste with producing eco enzyme

We at KPMG Indonesia believe that small things can have a huge impact on the environment. One little step that we can try is to process our organic waste. Organic waste at home has many benefits if it is processed properly, including producing a multipurpose eco enzyme liquid.

No Single-Use Plastic Tuesdays

This program aimed at reducing single-use plastic waste (especially Styrofoam containers) in our workplace.

Responsible consumption and production

In collaboration with EcoTouch, we create eco-friendly insulation made from employee’s clothing waste. Through unused clothing contributions, we have successfully repurposed, resell through charity bazaar and donate.
