KPMG issued for the 26th continuous year, its annual Compensation and Benefits Surveys. The Survey is carried out by KPMG in collaboration with Greek and multinational companies from various sectors of the Greek market. General Managers, Financial Managers, Human Resources Managers and other executives directly or indirectly involved in HR management, make use of the survey to develop remuneration policies for their employees, to evaluate the existing rewards system and to determine annual increases.
The General Survey presents detailed remuneration information for 149 job positions and was based on a sample of 114 companies from various sectors of the Greek market.
Key findings:
- 80% of the participating companies gave increases in 2019 to at least one employee category. The percentage of increases given in 2019 for the whole sample was 1.8% (median value).
- The overall amount awarded as bonus in 2019, was on average 6.3% of the total annual base salary.
- 19% of the sample companies reduced their job positions in 2019. This reduction mainly affected employees aged 36-55.
- 60% of the sample companies provide a private pension plan to at least one employee category. The majority of the programs are of a defined contribution and provide the possibility of an optional employee contribution.
- Compared to previous years, more graduates were recruited, with the majority of them being absorbed in specialized technology positions. The average starting salary for these positions was EUR 15 700 (for employees without postgraduate studies).
