“My decision to join KPMG was shaped by the experience I had already gained in the Big4 environment, through which I had become familiar with both the way these organizations operate and the demands that come with them. At that point in my career, however, I felt ready to take the next step, move beyond my comfort zone, and challenge myself through more demanding engagements with greater responsibility. If I had to highlight one defining moment from this transition, it would be when I took full responsibility for coordinating a demanding engagement. It is the point where you begin to see your role from a broader perspective.
In my day-to-day work, I try to follow a few simple principles: consistency, clear communication, and attention to detail. I do not believe in ‘big last-minute moves’, because quality is built steadily, step by step. At the same time, I consider honesty and transparency to be essential, both within the team and in communication with clients.
For me, teamwork is not just a concept - it is something practiced every day. It means being available when others need you, providing direction while also giving people the space to grow. I try to lead in the same way I would want a Manager to lead me: with trust, support, and open communication.
What motivates me is the feeling that every engagement has something different to offer. Whether it is a technical challenge or the development of the team, there is always something that helps you grow. Even during the most demanding periods, I try to maintain a positive mindset, mainly by focusing on solutions rather than problems.
Based on my experience so far, I would say to anyone considering a move to a Big4 firm to view it as an investment in themselves. It is not easy, but if you are willing to learn, adapt, and work collaboratively, the experience you gain is truly worthwhile."
