Personal information protection compliance audit management and response

On February 14, 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China released the “Personal Information Protection Compliance Audit Management Measures” (hereinafter referred to as the "Audit Measures"), which will come into force on May 1, 2025. The issuance of the Audit Measures means that the requirements for personal information protection compliance audits, which are repeatedly mentioned in higher-level regulations such as the “Personal Information Protection Law” and the “Regulations on Network Data Security Management”, will move from having guidelines to follow to being implemented in accordance with rules.
