Alena is an accomplished risk consulting professional with over a decade of experience across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the wider CIS region. She specializes in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), with particular focus on enterprise risk management, internal control, internal audit, compliance, and corporate governance enhancement.
She began her career with KPMG in 2013 and transferred to KPMG Azerbaijan in 2022, where she has supported the establishment and growth of the firm’s local consulting practice from inception into one of the key pillars of KPMG’s advisory business in the country.
Alena has led numerous large-scale engagements focused on designing and implementing governance, risk, and control frameworks aligned with international standards such as COSO ERM, ISO 31000, Basel, and the IIA IPPF. Her work includes independent functional assessments, corporate governance diagnostics, and the development of comprehensive policies and methodologies tailored to client-specific needs.
Her professional background spans multiple sectors, including financial services, energy, telecommunications, agribusiness, and the public sector. She is also actively involved in regional collaboration across KPMG’s Central Asia and Caucasus network, contributing to cross-border projects and sharing expertise on governance and risk transformation initiatives.
Alena holds two Master’s degrees from leading
UK universities—City, University of London (MSc Project Management, Finance and Risk) and Royal Holloway, University of London (MSc Financial and Industrial Economics). She is a Certified Operational Risk Manager (PRMIA), a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and an Approved ISO 31000 Trainer.
