Senate Majority Leader Schumer tonight filed a motion for cloture on the motion to proceed to the House-passed tax extenders bill, the “Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act” (H.R. 7024).

The filing of this motion is necessary to bring the bill to a vote. The filing tonight suggests he intends to bring this procedural motion to the floor before the August recess, which begins at the end of the week. The motion requires 60 votes to begin debate on the bill on the Senate floor.

The House passed the bill in January. Read TaxNewsFlash
