Proposed increase in stamp duty exemptions for first-time home buyers

The government announced it intends to increase the stamp duty exemption for first time home buyers from $500,000* to $700,000, with a phaseout for values up to $800,000.

The first-time vacant land home buyers exemption would also be increased from $250,000 to $350,000, with a phase out for values up to $500,000.
