Guyana’s 2024 budget—presented 15 January 2024—proposes the following tax-related measures.

  • Reduction in freight charges
  • Expansion of part-time job programme
  • Support to small businesses—lower interest rates
  • Removal of duty and value added tax (VAT) on sports equipment, technology, and fire extinguishers
  • Increase in old age pension
  • Increase in public assistance
  • “Supporting the vulnerable”
  • National Insurance Scheme (NIS)—increases in minimum pension, survivor’s pension, and invalidity pension
  • Support to University of Guyana graduates
  • Allowance for life and medical insurance premiums paid
  • Increase in personal allowance
