Civil penalty against a U.S. company for alleged violations of U.S. antiboycott provisions
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce imposed a $48,750 civil penalty against a U.S. aerospace company based in Muskegon, Michigan to resolve alleged violations of U.S. antiboycott provisions of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
According to the BIS release (September 7, 2023), the company voluntarily disclosed the conduct to BIS, cooperated with the investigation by BIS’s Office of Antiboycott Compliance (OAC), and took remedial measures after discovering the conduct at issue, all of which resulted in a significant reduction in penalty.
