China appeals WTO panel report finding Chinese duties on U.S. products retaliatory
The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced that China today appealed the panel report in the case brought by the United States alleging that China imposed illegal retaliatory tariffs on U.S. products in response to U.S. Section 232 actions on steel and aluminum.
The panel report, which was circulated to WTO members on 16 August 2023, found that China’s additional duties measure was inconsistent with the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 (GATT 1994). Read TaxNewsFlash
