GST rate of 28% on the full-face value of bets placed

Bills amending the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Act, 2023 and the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Act, 2023—introducing changes recommended by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council regarding GST on gaming—received assent of the president on 18 August 2023.

The bills include a uniform GST rate of 28% on the full-face value of bets placed / chips purchased in casinos, horse racing, and online gaming.
