U.S. order renewing temporary denial of export privileges of Belarusian airline

The temporary denial order is renewed—effective immediately—and will remain in effect for 180 days.

The temporary denial order is renewed for Belarusian airline

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce today released for publication in the Federal Register an order renewing the temporary denial of export privileges of a Belarusian airline.

Summary

As explained in the order [PDF 274 KB]:

  • An order issued in June 2022 denied the export privileges of the Belarusian airline for a period of 180 days. Read TradeNewsFlash. The order was subsequently renewed in December 2022.
  • BIS—through the Office of Export Enforcement—on May 18, 2023, submitted a written request for renewal of the December 2022 temporary denial order (TDO).
  • Evidence presented by BIS demonstrated that the Belarusian airline has acted in violation of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the TDO; that such violations have been significant, deliberate and covert; and that there is a likelihood of imminent violations.
  • Therefore, the temporary denial order is renewed—effective immediately—and will remain in effect for 180 days.
