South Africa: 2023 tax filing season for individuals opens 7 July 2023

The notice lists the persons who are required (and who are not required) to submit tax returns.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) on 14 June 2023 published a notice announcing that the 2023 tax season for individuals opens 7 July 2023.

The notice lists the persons who are required (and who are not required) to submit tax returns, as well as the periods within which the tax returns are due for the 2023 year of assessment (period 1 March 2022 to 28 February 2023):

  • On or before 23 October 2023
  • For provisional taxpayers, on or before 24 January 2023 if submitted electronically by using the SARS electronic filing platform
