Consultation on proposed 2023-2024 supervisory levies for financial institutions

Treasury released a discussion paper [PDF 604 KB] for consultation on proposed financial institutions supervisory levies for the 2023‑2024 financial year.

The paper, published in conjunction with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), sets out information about the total expenses for the activities to be undertaken by APRA and certain Commonwealth agencies in 2023-2024, to be funded through commensurate levies revenue to be collected in 2023–2024.

According to Treasury, the levies, known as the Financial Institutions Supervisory Levies, are set to recover the operational costs of APRA and other specific costs incurred by certain Commonwealth agencies, including Treasury and the Australian Taxation Office.

The consultation closes on 9 June 2023.
