The MLI was approved by the Senate on 12 October 2022.

The Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to Prevent Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (MLI) was approved by the Senate on 12 October 2022.

After approval by the Senate, the MLI must be published in the official gazette, and the instrument of ratification must be deposited with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Once the MLI is deposited, the international treaty would enter into force in 2023 and, with respect to taxes withheld in the source country, would be applicable from 1 January 2024.
